SSSOM Terms and Conditions

Lessons

  • The contract for driving tuition is solely between you and Your SSSOM driving Instructor. You and Your Instructor are responsible for agreeing all matters relating to the timing, location and duration of individual lessons.
  • The pupil must hold a current, valid driving licence (provisional or full) which must be examined to the instructor on or in advance of the first driving lesson.
  • You will need to inform your SSSOM Instructor if you have any driving endorsements.
  • The pupil must be able to read a vehicle’s registration number from a distance of 20.5 metres (67 feet- approx 5 car lengths or 20 metres for the newer plates since 2001) with glasses, if normally worn.
  • You must notify your instructor of any matters which affect your ability or entitlement to have driving tuition, for example, but not limited to, any lack, or loss, of a valid provisional driving licence or any health issues and be in a fit and proper condition to drive.
  • All lessons are strictly one-2-one and at SSSOM we do not 'piggy-back' other pupils during the lesson.
  • Pupils must ensure they are punctual to their lessons. The SSSOM Instructor will normally wait up to 15 minutes before the lesson will be abandoned and the cost of that lesson will be due in full from the pupil or bill payer. This will be deducted from any block payments.
  • In the interest of comfort and safety pupils are required to wear suitable footwear and clothing for driving purposes.
  • No smoking is permitted inside or close to the vehicle.
  • The pupil will be under close supervision, whenever they are driving in the school vehicle, however, the SSSOM Instructor cannot be held responsible for any infringements of the law. Any fines that are incurred will be the responsibility of the driver at the time of the offence.
  • Currently SSSOM Instructors are still operating under a COVID safe environment. Windows will be slightly opened to allow airflow, masks should be worn, if at all possible, and your Instructor will use anticeptic sprays and wipes to disinfect most key touchpoints on the car before any change of occupant position, such as swapping from drivers seat to passenger seat. This is until further notice, unless you have been informed otherwise.
Cancellations
  • If you wish to cancel a lesson a minimum of 48 hours prior notice should be given. Cancellations must be made directly between you and your instructor (text message is preferred - please specify brief nature for the reason to cancel). Depending on the circumstances of the cancellation, your Instructor may use their discretion as to whether the cancellation is chargable or not.If you do not give at least 48 hours notice of cancellation, your instructor will be entitled to charge for the lesson(s) concerned in full.
  • Your Instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson, at your cost, if they suspect you to be under the influence of drink and/or drugs (Prescription or otherwise).
Payments and lesson bookings
  • You must pay for tuition in advance or at the start of the lesson by using one of the following methods:
     - Cash in the car at the start of the lesson.
     - Cheque made payable to: Sara Stokes.
     - Bank Transfer (details will be provided directly to bill payer).

Price changes
  • The price of lessons which have not been prepaid as part of a block booking may be changed at any time. You will always receive prior notification of such changes.
  • The cost of prepaid tuition is based on the lesson price at the time of booking, and will be honoured for 6 months thereafter irrespective of any price increase that may occur between the date of booking and when the lessons are taken. Any unused lessons remaining after 6 months have elapsed may have any lesson price increase applied.
Transferability of lessons
  • You cannot sell or transfer lessons which have been purchased in your name to any other person, without prior consent.
Liability
  • Your instructor is not liable to you for any loss or damage caused where, and to the extent that:
     – there is no breach of a legal duty owed to you by the relevant person or body.
     – such loss or damage is not a reasonably foreseeable result of such a breach.
     any such loss or damage, or increase in the same, results from any breach or omission by you.
     – any such loss or damage results from circumstances or matters outside of the reasonable control of the relevant person or body.
  • Your instructor, shall not, in any event, be liable for losses relating to any business interests you may have including, without limitation, lost profits, loss of opportunity or business or business interruption.
  • Nothing in these terms and conditions will affect any statutory rights you may have as a consumer.
Law applying to terms and conditions
  • These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Money back on unused credits
  • Your Instructor offers money back on unused credits if you are not happy with your training in anyway. The full price of any lessons taken will be deducted before any refund is given. The refund will also be adjusted to account for any other offers or deals which may no longer apply, depending on the number of tuition hours taken.
